Information EO 2008

16 12 2007

Information about the European Open. This is an FCI sanctioned event with 35 Countries participating. Each country can send 30 dog/handler teams.

I have had several requests from agility competitors that reside in other Countries (USA, England and Japan) to compete on the Canadian Team at the European Open in Germany this July 2008. – who are Canadian citizens living abroad.

I have discussed with the Canadian Kennel Club manager and the following will apply.

There are 30 available spots on the Canadian Team. (#small + #medium = #large) ratio. There are no pre – requisites or selection committee. Any dog is eligible. It will be a first come first serve basis, but we must follow the FCI rules and there must be an equal ratio between small/medium and large dogs (you can’t send an entire team of large dogs). The
FCI jump heights and equipment standards will be used.

-Priority will be given to those who reside in Canada and have Canadian Citizenship.

-If there are any open spots, those living outside of Canada must have Canadian Citizenship and Canadian Passport.

thank you

· Demystification of Nature-Nurture questions (in English until you really get it)

· The Four “F”s of animal behavior and their specifics in dogs
· Thinking like an evolutionary biologist about fear and aggression
· What the heck is play? Refereeing play
· What are dogs’ strong cognitive domains, or brain-power modules
· Ask your Most Burning Question
· Oodles of practical pointers along the way
· Oodles of fun
· Oodles of head-exploding information

Jean Donaldson, a household name for anyone who reads her award winning column in Dogs in Canada, is a renowned animal behaviourist who has been participating in dog sports and putting numerous titles on her dogs since 1975. Undoubtedly one of her favourite pastimes is flyball with her rescue Chow Buffy, the only Chow registered with
the North American Flyball Association.

With degrees in Music and Comparative Psychology, Jean has put her talents to good use as an award winning author of several books including CULTURE CLASH, MINE!, FIGHT!, BEHAVE! and a DVD on basic obedience: PERFECT PAWS IN FIVE DAYS.
Since moving to San Francisco from Canada, Jean founded the San Francisco SPCA Academy of Dog Trainers (aka the ‘Harvard’ for dog trainers) where she instructs while pursuing a doctorate in evolutionary biology.

Jean is looking forward to coming to Canada, presenting NEW material at this seminar which is aimed at both owners and trainers.
