Bash’s first fun match

22 09 2003

It’s been almost a week with no bumps. He’s still on a natural immune booster and anti-histamine…and we’re still vigilant.

More exciting news…he was at his first fun match yesterday. The barn was as loud as a flyball tournament. He did really well in the crowded noisy barn…considering how sensitive he is to noise, etc. Once he got on course he was relaxed and focused…he was a little too overwhelmed to play at times (specially when dogs close to him barked or yiped…) but had quite a few good tuggy moments…

The jumpers and snooker courses were masters level. And the tunnellers run had 15 obstacles and way too much handling…but the great news is he did AWESOME. And got to look cute doing it. His start-lines and his contacts were amazing. His gamble was stellar.

His snooker opening had very nice flow. We did notice that he wasn’t sure why he was asked to do the same obstacle three times in his snooker opening…and realized that we don’t ever train him to repeat obstacles. If he does blow the bottom contact we do give him the opportunity to perform the obstacle again so that he can get his reward. Also, he was whistled off at the beginning of his closing sequence even tho there are no refusals judged in starters…so he didn’t get to finish. At a regular trial with a real judge…he would’ve and most likely would’ve q’d…so that’s cool!

His jumpers run was the fastest, cleanest run all day (all dogs…all sizes…) very cool. That little flat ribbon is a keeper…

He did the usual first-time tunnellers double take. This can’t be right? What’s with all the repeating…haha. Obviously this is something we have to work on… and once they’ve done tunnellers…they don’t usually ask twice!!!

It was really sweet to see them trying to figure out how to work together as a team…when it all comes together…watch out!

more on bumps

15 09 2003

So, word on the bumps, etc. is that he had a huge histamine reaction to…something. He’s been on and off with the bumps and swelling…still with the best attitude, playful, happy, cuddly. We went back to his constitutional remedy after finally getting a hold of a homeopath who we wanted to work with…and he’s been doing much better.

then he blows up his stopper pad playing ball on the hard dry grass in Elma last weekend. WHATEVER!!!

So looking forward to his fun match this sunday!

The little man looks fine today. No sign that he was ever bumpy yesterday. He looked great after his second dose of apis and his rest in his crate last night…

We just taped his weavepoles and he was perfect every time.
