Drip….drip…drip…some dogs get obsessed about flashing lights, or cats, or birds…Bash likes to watch dripping water. He gets all excited when he hears the shower running and rushes through the door to wait for me to come out dripping wet, so he can watch drops of water fall on the ground. He did try to pounce once…got my foot…I hollered…and now he just watches (at a safe-from-hollering-not-so-close-I-won’t-be-able-to-help-but-pounce distance). Somehow it’s not the same when he’s the one having the “shower”…

We’ve been working with Bash’s chiropractor a lot lately. We’re finally getting some real great adjustments in! And getting to see some great changes. It’s tough keeping him quiet after adjustments…but we do our best.
So, our main goal over the next few weeks and months is to get him to as many other places and equipment as we can so that he can generalize his contact behaviour and his weaves and everything else.
Also, we have to get out there and reinforce him for attention in situations that usually send him reeling…but actually this is going really great! We had stopped by Flyball Practice and he made it all the way into the building (too excited and over the top to even be in the parking lot as a pup!!!) was actually in the building with dogs running and barking and he wasn’t out of his skin with excitement. He was obviously “excited” but still was able to work body positions and worked even harder to give us attention.
So now we’re able to look into getting him into flyball…it’s a REAL possibility! No doubt that he’ll love it! And now that he can focus on a job he’ll be able to love it even more.
So all our hard work is paying off. He’s as great a dog as we thought he’d be…but I’m sure he’s still able to surprise us…

It’s been a while since we’ve posted but of course the training goes on…he performs all the contact obstacles well with a nose touch…so we’ll just keep working on accuracy as speed is coming along fine! His weaves are complelety straight and he does 6 very well. Will try 12 next week some time. Aside from that his distance work and his “close” work are coming along fine…he sneaks in with the grown ups at their practice sessions…and keeps up very well! Work on directionals just goes on…and in case anyone’s wondering…he’s still way too cute!
