It was so hot today at the park…

It was so hot today at the park…Emily almost convinced Bash to jump in the creek with her! Instead he just ran the bank and got his feet wet chasing her in and out of the creek. When it’s his idea to go in…we’re sure there’ll be no keeping him out of it…
We’re very happy with his nose touches of late. Very brilliant performances! Excellent grown-up type focus! An impressive feat for him! He’s such a great little dog!

Bash is a weaving wonder!

23 04 2003

Bash is a weaving wonder! We’ve been working 6 poles, we switched from the weave chute method to WAM and things make more sense and are going like gangbusters. We would’ve started with 12 but one of the grown ups blew a pole up!!! We’re not naming names – haha! So he’s been working on entry and has even started jump-weave sequence…pretty much his doing…he has some really great ideas! We’ll be starting on 12 weaves by the weekend…

His nose touches are awesome. We’ve decided not to do more contacts (altho he does go on the teeter himself – and target) and go back to more nose touches…stairs, etc. Just a time issue with our schedules and us being more commited to a solid foundation than being in any sort of rush to perform the whole obstacle or to get ready to trial. We don’t have any solid plans to trial with him this year.

We have not reviewed, lately, how many cues he knows fluently but his lefts and rights are brilliant. We realize that we have slacked on teaching him more tricks lately…and our schedule is a pretty lame excuse…he thinks!!!

We’ve been asked quite a few times when we’re going to start him in flyball. And the reply is: not for a loooooong time. haha! For some reason nobody’s shocked at this reply…hmmmmm….

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BASH!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BASH!!! One year old today!

Bash goes lure coursing

3 04 2003

Last weekend Bash got to try lure coursing!!! He was strangely focused and quiet about the whole thing…I was expecting banshee type hysteria that the whippets and Emily succumb to when they see that white plastic bag zip along. He chased with no hesitation…maybe next time he’ll be screeching with the best of them.
As far as agility training is going…things are going really well. We’re much more focused about certain parts of his training than we have been in the past. We’re working him up to a lot more of the harder stuff. And he’s able to work with one dog barking or running. His “left” and “right” commmands are coming along brilliantly. We’ve started to teach him to weave. And we’ve decided to go back a few steps with his contacts. This has been a great decision. His teeters are much more focused than the previous baby type stuff we’ve been doing. That’s it for now…
